The Association of Independent Regional Press Publishers of Ukraine has supported regional and local media for over 20 years. The Association’s projects focus on professional training, financial support for regional media, journalist safety, and international cooperation.

Stronger Together: Gender Equality and Inclusion
One of the three key components of the Stronger Together project, this direction focuses on developing leadership skills and career coaching within the Women in News program.

Stronger Together: Financial and Organizational Sustainability
Another core focus of the Stronger Together program is to strengthen media outlets through training in sustainable business models and the provision of long-term institutional grants to local and regional media.

Stronger Together: Transparency and Anti-corruption
The third main area of the Stronger Together program, aimed at advancing investigative journalism in the regions through long-term grants and editorial mentorship.

Plan B
Launched in 2025 in cooperation with Norwegian partner Amedia Foundation, this emergency relief project provides short-term financial support (up to 5 months) for media affected by the closure of U.S. donor-funded programs.

International Insurance Fund for Journalists
Launched in 2022 by the Association in partnership with the five Ukrainian non-profit organizations. This project provides free insurance for media teams, as well as medical and psychological training, all part of supporting Ukrainian media professionals during their reporting from the frontline.

Media Bridges: Finland – Ukraine
Launched in 2025 in cooperation with News Media Finland, this project focuses on training in self-regulation and media literacy. Finnish participants include Helsingin Sanomat, Lapin Kansa, and JSN; ten Ukrainian regional editorial teams are also involved. In addition to monthly online meetings, the project includes study tours to Helsingin Sanomat (Helsinki) and Lapin Kansa (Lapland), as well as grants for information campaigns on self-regulation.

Innovative Media Ukraine
Launched in 2024 in partnership with the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF), this project offers financial and mentorship support for regional newsrooms’ business projects. Within its first year, five Ukrainian regional media have already received the support.

AI Journalism Bootcamp
Initiated in 2024, this project provides training and skill development for regional editorial teams in the use of AI tools.

Women in Media
Launched in 2022, this project provides educational and financial support for women in media and promotes female leadership development.

Media Congress
The Ukrainian Media Congress has been held annually since 2011 for leaders of regional and local media. It is the only platform in Ukraine for media professionals to exchange experiences, discuss trends, and find inspiration for new projects.

Digital ABC:Madia Managers Educational Program
Started in Ukraine in 2023, this program aims to teach and implement digital strategies in practice. It consists of practical online training courses on strategic media planning and the use of AI in regional editorial teams, as well as business acceleration for Ukrainian regional media. Developed by the Women in News program of WAN-IFRA with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Trainings
Under the #тренінги (#trainings) tag, the Association gathers all practical and educational training sessions conducted as part of its various projects. These include safety trainings on first aid and psychological support, AI tools training from the Bootcamp, and self-regulation and media literacy workshops under the Media Bridges: Finland — Ukraine project, among others.
