The institutional support program is designed to help regional media become more financially resilient by offering training in sustainable business models and providing institutional grants. Participants will gain deeper insight into their audiences, explore new monetization strategies appropriate for wartime and post-war recovery conditions, and build a stronger foundation for long-term growth.
«Today, independent regional media in Ukraine are not just sources of news — they are voices of truth that resonate under the most difficult conditions, often right on the front line. These newsrooms remain close to their audiences precisely when they are needed the most. They do more than inform — they fulfill a vital social mission. That is why the development and support of such media is a professional priority for the Association of Independent Regional Publishers of Ukraine. We are grateful to our partners for their support and solidarity, which truly help us be stronger — together! We believe that by strengthening the resilience of local and regional newsrooms, we reinforce democracy and freedom of speech not only in Ukraine but around the world», — says Oksana Brovko, CEO of the «Independent Regional Publishers of Ukraine».
From May 2 to 6, the first stage of Stronger Together took place, during which 15 female media professionals from Ukraine attended the World News Media Congress in Kraków.
The results of the investigative journalism support component, under the Transparency and Anti-Corruption track, will be announced at a later date.
We sincerely thank everyone who applied for their active participation and trust in the program.
The Stronger Together: Media and Democracy program is implemented by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in partnership with the Association Independent Regional Publishers of Ukraine (AIRPPU) and the Norwegian Media Businesses’ Association (MBL), with the support of Norway.
