Five regional media outlets will receive up to €10,000 each to implement innovative ideas

The team of the Association «Independent Regional Press Publishers of Ukraine» (AIRPPU) not only consistently launches new projects — attracting support and resources to strengthen regional media in Ukraine, but also continues to provide guidance to newsrooms that have taken part in previous programs. This ongoing support helps sustain results, reinforce implemented changes, and boost the professional capacity of editorial teams. Such an approach enables media outlets to remain resilient, even under the challenging conditions of wartime.

The Association «Independent Regional Press Publishers of Ukraine (AIRPPU)» and the Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) are pleased to announce the launch of the second round of the Ukraine Innovative Media Program. This initiative is aimed at 12 media organizations that previously participated in the international training course Digital ABC, Module E: The Age of Artificial Intelligence in the Newsroom.

This Program aims to help independent regional media outlets in Ukraine sustain and grow their businesses by developing new revenue streams and expanding their audiences. Such support is particularly important now, as Ukrainian media continue to face severe challenges due to Russia’s ongoing brutal invasion of Ukraine.

Up to five independent regional media outlets in Ukraine will be selected to receive:

  • Financial support of up to €10,000 per project to bring innovative ideas to life
  • Tailored mentorship and consulting from industry experts to help implement new revenue-generating ideas and grow audience sustainably

Supported projects may focus on:

  • New editorial products
  • Expanding distribution channels
  • AI integration for efficiency
  • Other innovations that support revenue and business sustainability
